🔄 What is Isomerism?
Isomers are compounds with the same molecular formula but a different structure or arrangement of atoms. At Class X level, we focus on structural isomerism.
📊 Types of Structural Isomerism
| Type | Description | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Chain Isomerism | Different arrangement of the carbon skeleton | n-Butane vs Isobutane (both C₄H₁₀) |
| Position Isomerism | Same functional group, different position on the chain | 1-Propanol vs 2-Propanol |
| Functional Isomerism | Same molecular formula, different functional group | Ethanol vs Dimethyl Ether (both C₂H₆O) |
